A trousseau is basically what a bride and her family puts together in her wardrobe for the events leading to the wedding & post wedding events. This is the fun part.
Though mostly we stick to classic pieces for the actual wedding, I love to have more fun with the other ensembles. Traditionally a trousseau included 11 – 21 ensembles for a new bride. I personally recommend brides to pick up fewer pieces & update the wardrobe every few months…as needed, keeping up with the trends.
In my prêt’ line I carry updated classics to trendier pieces. Working personally with each bride, we talk trends, personal styles, body types, event details and above all their dreams. I encourage my clients to try on different styles & have a variety in their wardrobe. Corsets, Occasional Lehangas, Dresses, Tunics, Suits, a nice sari are a few things we go over & see what works best for them individually.
Fusion pieces are another aspect that I personally enjoy working on. Dresses with Indian influence, gowns with a hit of Asian exoticism; for that eclectic bride who wants the best of both worlds. |
