Namrita’s earliest memories are of her grandfather’s atelier where he dressed the elite of the 20th century India. Her global design sensibility, a culturally rich inheritance, & a strong design background has given birth to “VASTRA”, her line of timeless Wedding & Special occasion Couture. Namrita’s inspiration is the grandeur of royal India juxtaposed against the modern, well travelled, eclectic woman of today. A pedigreed fashionista & designer… Namrita exemplifies fashion!
Born & raised in Jammu, India, she grew up amongst fashion forward women and was groomed to be one. She later moved down south to Bangalore for her education. After a stint as a graphic designer for a couple of years, she followed her dream to pursue a career in fashion. Upon moving to San Francisco, Namrita trained at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, and was granted the President’s honor roll in her graduating class.
In San Francisco, she interned with a Couturier, following which as the lead designer for a manufacturing company, travelled extensively to South East Asia including India, China & Hong Kong – designing and sourcing.
As the first ever Indian Bridal Design house based out of San Francisco Bay area, Namrita personifies an epitome of luxury. She exudes style & confidence from the moment you meet her. “I work personally with the brides to create their dream ensembles/ wedding trousseau. My line is elegant, sophisticated and classic… yet fresh and affordable! It is THE place for ‘Timeless Modern Classics’.
Namrita designs out of her atelier in Santa Clara, CA with production units in Mumbai & Delhi, India. She currently resides in the bayarea, CA with her husband & two boys.
